Russ Feingold is Still Bad for Wisconsin
Washington, DC – The Club for Growth PAC today released the following statement after former Senator Russ Feingold announced that he would run in 2016 for the U.S. Senate seat from Wisconsin that he lost in 2010:
“Wisconsin voters fired Russ Feingold in 2010 because he was out of touch with their values,” said Club for Growth President David McIntosh.“Since then, he’s been working for President Obama and teaching in California. Now he’s coming back to Wisconsin looking for another chance. It only makes sense that Feingold wants Wisconsinites to send him back to Washington. In 20+ years he’s hardly ever left. Feingold is a lifelong politician who has used political arm-twisting to push a radical, big-government, big-labor, anti-economic growth and anti-taxpayer agenda.
“Feingold’s only objection to Obamacare was that it didn’t go far enough toward fully government-run health care. He voted often to add to our nation’s staggering federal debt, and he was repeatedly a solid YES on debt-busting bailouts and spending bills. Since being voted out of office, Feingold has remained a strong Obama ally, only recently giving up his appointed post at the Obama State Department to find his way back to Wisconsin to run for office.
“In 2010, The Club for Growth PAC proudly stood with Ron Johnson in his successful defeat of Russ Feingold, and we are doing so again today.”
As a U.S. Senator, Russ Feingold’s voting record included the following:
Voted YES on McCain-Feingold
Voted YES on Obamacare
Voted YES to raise the debt limit
Voted YES on the stimulus
Voted YES on Cash for Clunkers
Voted YES on Cap and Trade
Voted YES on the auto bailout
Voted YES on the Fannie-Freddie bailout
Voted NO on school vouchers
Voted YES on big labor’s card check
Voted NO on the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts
