SFF Defeats 4 Anti-School Freedom Republicans in TN State House and Senate Primaries
Washington, D.C. – Club for Growth Action’s allied super PAC, School Freedom Fund, has defeated 4 anti-school choice Republicans in Tennessee’s State Legislative primaries. School Freedom Fund invested $3.6 million across 3 State House and 2 State Senate Districts in its efforts to bring education freedom to Tennessee. This comes after Club for Growth Action and School Freedom Fund spent $8.8 million to defeat 10 incumbent Republicans in the Texas State House who opposed Governor Greg Abbott’s education freedom legislation.
School Freedom Fund aired 11 unique ads throughout the primaries to ensure Governor Bill Lee has the votes needed to empower parents in their children’s education.
Races targeted by School Freedom Fund
- TN-SD-02: Defeated State Rep. Bryan Richey, who voted against Gov. Lee’s school freedom bill in committee and paid the price when he attempted to run for higher office.
- TN-SD-08: Defeated Frank Nicely, a RINO whose anti-school freedom record finally caught up to him.
- TN-HD-65: Elected Lee Reeves, who was endorsed by Gov. Lee and is a strong supporter of school freedom.
- TN-HD-68: Elected Aron Maberry, who was endorsed by Gov. Lee and has promised to back school freedom in the Volunteer State.
“Make no mistake – if you call yourself a Republican and oppose school freedom, you should expect to lose your next primary. Just like the 10 Representatives in Texas, tonight 4 candidates in Tennessee learned that it is unacceptable to favor progressive education bureaucrats over what’s best for students,” said School Freedom Fund President David McIntosh. “This is a huge win for Tennessee families who are sick of subsidizing schools that prioritize indoctrination over education. As we continue to hear from different Governors, we plan on repeating our results from Tennessee and Texas across the country. The school freedom revolution is just beginning.”
